Discover Our Vegetarian Vietnamese Menu: Plant-Based Dishes Bursting With Flavour

Vietnamese cuisine has one of the richest vegetarian traditions in Asia, deeply rooted in Buddhist culture. At Vietnam Restaurante, we are proud to offer a carefully curated selection of plant-based dishes that prove you do not need meat to enjoy bold, satisfying Vietnamese flavours.

A Tradition of Plant-Based Cooking

In Vietnam, vegetarian food is not an afterthought — it is a culinary tradition that dates back centuries. Buddhist temples across the country have long served elaborate meat-free meals, and millions of Vietnamese observe «ngay ram» (vegetarian days) twice a month. This heritage means that Vietnamese vegetarian cooking is sophisticated, flavourful, and deeply satisfying.

Chef Duong draws on this tradition to create vegetarian dishes that stand on their own merit — not as substitutes for meat dishes, but as celebrated recipes in their own right.

Our Vegetarian Highlights

Curry Chay (Vegetarian Curry)

A fragrant, coconut-based curry brimming with seasonal vegetables, tofu, and aromatic spices. Served with steamed jasmine rice, this dish offers warmth and comfort in every spoonful. The curry paste is made in-house using lemongrass, galangal, turmeric, and chilli — the same blend used in our traditional meat curries.

Nem Cuon Chay (Vegetarian Fresh Spring Rolls)

Our fresh spring rolls are a masterclass in texture and freshness. Translucent rice paper wraps filled with crisp vegetables, rice vermicelli, fresh herbs (mint, coriander, Thai basil), and tofu — served with our signature peanut dipping sauce. Light, healthy, and absolutely delicious.

Bun Bo Nam Bo Chay (Vegetarian Noodle Bowl)

The vegetarian version of our popular southern-style noodle bowl replaces beef with marinated tofu and mushrooms, topped with crushed peanuts, pickled vegetables, and a tangy lime dressing. It is fresh, vibrant, and completely addictive.

Com Chien Chay (Vegetarian Fried Rice)

Wok-fried jasmine rice with mixed vegetables, tofu, and a touch of soy sauce — simple, satisfying, and packed with the smoky «wok hei» flavour that comes from cooking at high heat.

Why Choose Vietnamese Vegetarian?

Unlike many Western vegetarian options that rely heavily on cheese and processed substitutes, Vietnamese vegetarian cooking centres on:

  • Fresh herbs and aromatics — lemongrass, Thai basil, mint, coriander, ginger
  • Natural umami — soy sauce, mushrooms, fermented ingredients
  • Diverse textures — crispy, silky, crunchy, chewy in a single dish
  • Light yet satisfying — rice and noodle bases that fuel without heaviness

Whether you are vegetarian, vegan, flexitarian, or simply curious, our plant-based dishes offer a genuine taste of Vietnam.

Dietary Notes

Many of our vegetarian dishes can be adapted for vegan diners (removing egg-based elements). Please inform your server of any dietary requirements or allergies — our kitchen is happy to accommodate.
